A Look at MY Sweet Marmalade

Did you all know that my oldest girl was the inspiration for my sewing business called  My Sweet Marmalade?

Yup.  There she is right there.  My Sweet Marmalade herself!

My passion for sewing teeny tiny dresses, ignited when she was about six months old.

There she is in the first ever pinafore that I designed and sewed.  Aaaaaaaaaaw!
That little girl sparked something within my soul and I reconnected with my fashion design and retail roots.

Yes, being a busy Mom limits my time spent on just about anything, but if something is important to you, you find a way to weave in onto your life.

Because of her, a business, a passion, a label was born!
Marmalade is turning three next month!  Oh how time flies.

With the pinafores I design I try to make them as functional, high quality, economical, eco-friendly as I can.   Of course, being high on the sweetness scale is also top priority.  All My Sweet Marmalade pinafores have these goals in mind as I design each one.  As I design, sew, wrap, label, and mail them off........love goes into each and every step.

Let me walk you through what this really means.

FUNctional!

  • Easy on and off. The pinafore fits a modern Mom’s and Babies lifestyle. No fussy buttons to deal with. Just slip it right over her head and get going.
  • She burps or spills milk……flip it over!
  • Two looks, one dress!
High Quality!

  • The label is handmade
  • Choice of thread
  • Designer fabrics
 Economical!
  • You get two looks in one!
  •  Criss-cross design in back makes this garment very accommodating to an ever growing child. Therefore, it can be worn season after season.  This pinafore will start out about mid-thigh (depending on the height of the child) and end up as a tunic or shirt.
Eco-Friendly!
This was a blanket in it's past life.

  • Label is 100% organic cotton
  • I try and use up-cycled material where appropriate
Take a look at this custom pinafore I designed for Marmalade's first birthday.

 Two years later!

Mind blown?

I know that Mar is a peanut, but I do believe that most girls can use these pinafores season after season, or maybe year after year!

The pinafore is a timeless staple in any girls closet.  In the warmer months it can be worn alone with a pair of bloomers, shorts or even over a bathing suit.  Just layer it over short or long sleeve onesies or shirts for when it’s cooler.  Leggings, pants, and leg warmers also look adorable when paired with your pinafore.

If you have a little girl that could use some threads from My Sweet Marmalade, head on over to Etsy! (sizes run from newborn up to a 5T!)

Love, Peace, and Sandy Feet,
Mama Nic

Our Sleeping Beauty

Here is a little look at our at home photo shoot of "Our Sleeping Beauty."  This wouldn't have been complete without her crown.  To get your crown, check out this shop on Etsy called Kriner Creations.  You get to pick your color and size,  and I was very pleased with how well this came out.  The fits was great too.  This made the perfect prop!

The little smirk on this girl just about kills me!

Our princess, our beauty,  our love.

Handmade Gifts For The Girl!

I loooooove handmade gifts!  To my delight we have our 1st one here for baby girl than I am tickled pink about.  I feel like a crazy person talking about crocheted sweaters today since the temp outside is a blistering 90 degrees and I am sweating just typing this.  But I had to play show an tell with this today.

Our dear family friend, Joanne made this little number for us as she has done for the other 2 kiddos.  She even made the white blanket that is shown here too.

these booties kill me

so soft and pretty

what a precious set!

Here is the crocheted wonderland that she has created for us!  We sooooo appreciate all the time and love she put into each and every one of these pieces!  True talent here too!!!  I feel lucky to have her think of us not once,  but 3 times!  Actually she made 6 sweaters and one blanket in total.....all gorgeous and we get lots a wear out of them.

Take  a look.

We Heart you Joanne!!!  Thank you SO SO much.

I also bought a little crocheted something, something on Etsy that I could not resist but I can't show you yet.  That reveal is for later when I have a real model!

I would just like to threw out a few random thoughts and feelings I have at the moment.

I am sooooooooo hungry lately it is absolutely ridiculous.

The baby has really dropped really low.....really low.

If anything falls on the floor in my house don't expect me to pick it up until the end of July or so.  Just sayin!

If you live in my house PLEASE pick things up that are on the ground and don't belong there.  No matter your age here........I am talking to you....and you....and you too!  Help a Mama out.

Doc appointment this week showed baby has adequate fluid around her.  Hooray!

I  have started to dilate and cervix has softened!  Progress is being made.

Baby sounded good, I checked out good except for those damn platelets being too low.

Doc is seeing me at the beginning of next week again.  We will go appointment to appointment with no set plan right now on how/when to treat low platelet situation, induction, etc.  I hate that.

From a Mama who loves the heat, did I mention that I am sweating just typing this?  Yeah.  I think I did.  Well I still am.

This heat is making me delirous.  Time to drink some water and find a fan.

Love,
Mama Nic at 36 weeks and 2 days, who is getting bigger and bigger by the minute

I've Got Troubles, Ah but....Not Today

"Cause they gonna wash away.....oh, they gonna wash away."

Monday morning.  Not a typical Monday for me by any means.  The reality that I am not working anymore is sinking in this morning.  I took my son to his preschool and my daughter to her Grandparent's house this morning as usual,  but then after that instead of that horrible commute that would sure to kill my back....I got to drive right back to my house.

It was a beautiful day.  Sunny.  I love the sun.  It is such a healer for me in the world.

I may have lots of things that are out of my control in my life right now,  but one thing I can control are my thoughts.  I decided to get back to the house and do my physical therapy stretches and then venture out for some fresh air and sun for a short walk up the road and back.  I am not talking a 3 mile loop, but a little slow stroll for a few minutes to loosen up my muscles.  It felt good....no great, really.

I have no room in my life for heart for negative feelings or fear.  I decided to concentrate on being thankful for where I am today mentally, physically and geographically.  You know I am always saying that my heart belongs living somewhere a bit tropical, but today is so beautiful I wanted to really look around at the beauty and be happy right where I am.  Right now.  Today.

And so I walk.

Cherry tree transitioning from pink blooms to green leaves.  This was a wedding gift we got almost 5 years ago.  Oh how it has grow...and so have we.  I love this tree.

 .......and I walk.
"I got troubles, oh but....not today.  Cause I'm gonna wash away, this old river gonna wash me away."

Time to stop the worries and let go....relax.

Good morning Berkshire County.  Lots of robins and cardinals out this morning.

You gotta love an old red barn.....
....an open field.
A flowing river.
I am pretty lucky....all this within steps from our house.
A daffodil growing up from a fallen tree.
Beautiful birch trees in the neighbors yard.
and back to the house I am.  Hydrate, blog, and rest.

Today's agenda includes resting, reading and physical therapy this afternoon.

"I got troubles, oh but.......not today.  Cause they gonna wash away.  They gonna wash away."

And here is a peak of my latest Etsy listing in my shop, My Sweet Marmalade.  Size 3T and ready to ship.  Thanks for looking. Click here to see.

Have a great week, everyone!  P.S. I am 29 weeks today!  Wahooooo!
